Craig Mackay is a photographer living and working from Brora in the Highlands.
He gave up a promising career in the oil industry to complete a degree at Napier University in photographic studies.
Following university he returned to the highlands to set up his own studio working mainly with the musicians, celebrity lifestyle magazines and corporate companies. Craig’s work draws much from this Highland background. Stark and uncompromising, his images often deal with life, death, religion and ritual. He draws on his own personal experience of emigration and loss to illustrate his work. He is currently working on a new exhibition called “Shorag” a surreal interpretation depicting his relationship with the sea.
